Ron painted 2 canvas’ live on the front patio while Jason released his ink inside on the school desk. on top of all that action, Snowmanfloza came through with some live entertainment rockin raw beats and lyrics out of the corner of the garden with some crazy hyperactive glasses… it was a great night. have a peak:

muckenthaler leisure league

we had a neat day-after-art-walk party up at the muck on april 3rd. mainly because we discovered our new most favorite band in the world, “chicken or fish” who was playing on the north/west corner of the grass area. we also really enjoyed the high school exhibit in their gallery. i was definitely wow’d by their works and would love to recruit some of that local high school talent to show at PÄS. in addition to the music and art, we got to partake in some bocce ball and croquet action… it was a great afternoon.

schoolin the Webelos at PÄS

current PÄS artist, Jason Moore, came through big for some of the local fullerton Webelos a couple weeks ago. one of their badge requirements was to talk with an artist and gain insight from them about their career as an artist. they came in on set-up day for The Spirit of the Times, which is a showcase of Jason Moore and Ron Garrett from zeitgeist gallery. jason explained to the webelos how important it is to be creative in everything they do. even if they do not pursue an “art-related” job.

he went on to talk about his art and his processes. ryan garrett of zeitgeist gallery and i also pitched in some info about careers in art. the webelos took notice and were very excited to be here.

this is what we love at PÄS, we get jazzed on serving the community.

the dream project – Richman School

we had a great opportunity to go to Richman Elementary School and teach art in their Lunch Bunch program. kristy devised “the dream project” which had the kids think of a dream and draw it. then the idea was to take that dream and tell someone else by actually handing it over to them and having them to add to it. the kids had a hard time letting go of their dream because of the simple fact that they didn’t trust anyone else with it. it was very interesting to see how the kids reacted and how they treated someone else’s dream. more than anything, i learned that a lot of children have trust issues. art was just an avenue to see that. besides watercolor, we hope the kids learned something about each other, sharing, and working together.

we’re excited to continue working with our community whenever we can. and we’re more than happy to touch a child’s life through art. here was our Lunch Bunch project discover class:

this just makes me smile. original letterpress dice prints from Stukenborg … so fresh … each pattern is built by laying dice, one by one, on the bed of the letterpress and rolling ink directly onto the face of the dice for each impression:
